The “Maialino d’Argento” is the training course reserved for Levoni deli staff, promoted and organised by the company in order to offer a high added value service for those who want to raise their level of professionalism.

The company, with a preference for traditional channels, has chosen to invest its resources in a project that is unique of its kind, designed to enhance and encourage the professional growth of the figure of the delicatessen owner, by means of a training course that is complete and tailored to suit.

The “Maialino d’Argento” is a long-term project whose objective is to implement the knowhow and tools that the delicatessen owner requires in order to become a real consultant for even the most demanding of clientele.

This is the innovative idea behind it: Levoni’s prime quality will no longer reach the consumer only through its own products, but also through the consultancy that delicatessen owners themselves will be in a position to offer their customers after attending a Levoni training course.

These are the themes dealt with in the first five modules of the course: deli meat tasting techniques, procedures to present products in the best way at the point of sale, communication with the customer, financial management of the point of sale, marketing and promotion of the point of sale.

The courses are held all over Italy and always during the shops’ half-day closing to respect the obligations of the participants. The active methods used envisage working in small groups, to facilitate interaction and interactivity and create the right blend of theory and practice.

The training scheme, which started during the first half of 2008, has already welcomed 1,000 delicatessen owners and has been highly successful, as shown both by the constantly increasing number of applications and the positive feedback received from the participants at the end of each individual module.

First module
The course is aimed at offering participants indispensable tools to develop sensory analysis skills to recognize deli meat quality: characteristics of the raw materials, of the ingredients and of the production process.

The course is aimed at giving useful knowledge to manage the space inside the point of sale, such as presenting the products in the best way to encourage impulse buying by the consumer.

Third module
This module explores the communication mechanisms that develop in the sales relationship with the customer.

Fourth module
This course is aimed at giving new skills and offer updates on the tools and strategies to optimise the financial management of the shop, by constantly checking the cost/income ratio.

Fifth module
The aim of this course is to give practical and effective tools to develop techniques and strategies of promotion and communication to the public.
